Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of many Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading the performance of them. They can be a good source of damage or more AD or even more affixes.
Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to the more modernized Common or Magic gear due to their higher requirements.

Armor
Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be applied to weapons and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item that they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using a professional or higher salvage kits to recover upgrade components from items.
The amount of damage that a piece of armor or weapon can absorb depends on the degree of upgrades. A piece of armor upgraded to maximum upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. But, it's important to keep in mind that this will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than before.
There are several different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each one has a distinct impact. Certain upgrades give armor a greater number of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade an item can be given, as illustrated below.
Some upgrades are magical or a combination of technology and magic which is shown by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges for use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either constantly updated or never expire, depending on the upgrade.
The cheapest method to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be gathered by exploring the environment and looting chests of minor loot. Titanium is more expensive, but it can be obtained from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant increases in stats and are well worth the investment.
The player must be aware that upgrading a piece to the maximum upgrade level can increase its defense values. However, it can also decrease the speed and agility of the piece. For this reason, it is generally not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces beyond +9, since the added defense is generally not worth the additional weight and power costs of the upgrades needed.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. For example an upgrade could improve the damage that is caused by shotgun shells or the accuracy of a rifle sniper. Certain weapons come with special upgrades to improve their inherent characteristics. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).
The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by completing side quests or killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.
To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific amount of Bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade, the more expensive the upgrade. The cost of upgrading will be less if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed a bit. Previously you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay for a specific amount of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to a higher quality. You could continue doing this until you reached a maximum upgrade level for your weapon or equipment, after which upgrades would reset.
It's still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. You're better off buying gear with low upgrade levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a higher chance of giving you the highest level of benefits and blessings.
To improve item upgrades , many players be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. In addition, players should consider upgrading the weapons they use with their teammates to increase their power as well. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to increase its utility when accompanied by biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are placed in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing a stat and providing secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is the process of making them, in which you combine the gemstone with specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the level of the jewel the better the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or by collecting Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The Jeweler can enhance the quality of gemstones in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Based on the tier of the gem it will give different stat boosts when it is inserted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.
All tiers of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for the privilege of having them. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without destroying the original. However it is only possible to replace one jewel in an item of equipment only once.
It is normal to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. Jewels also enhance performance and make an outer layer that is more durable than steel, so that the repeated friction from pivots does not damage them.
In addition to the upgrades mentioned above, the player can also get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These are a small perk and can be swapped out at any time, but are not guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold, and also Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis, aren't swappable and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are a great way to provide your hero with a variety of small, but beneficial, benefits. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and by doing road interactions. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinkets a player can unlock is the cloak, which grants a small but useful bonus to speed of movement and evasion. The player will then be able to acquire rings, amulets and necklaces, in a similar way to how they acquired weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with an upgrade slot that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be used in any type of equipment however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and only works with specific types of trinkets.
These trinkets can also grant bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero is not fighting. This lets the hero perform better when they are not active and also helps fill in the void of a strong team or the absence of any slots from the talent tree that would normally be filled with the hero's best stats.
A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is true especially if you want to upgrade multiple stats on an item. It is best to upgrade just one crucial stat rather than two suboptimal ones.
At the beginning of the game players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and middle players will usually opt for a green or pink ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a major impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.
Aside from the things mentioned above, players can discover a variety of other items in the form of trophies and awards. These can be obtained through completing certain milestones in the story, for instance finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a certain boss. Resource can be seen by selecting the appropriate achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
