World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to an item are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item is upgraded, its basic stats are increased in value. The value is the sum of all of its leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is due to the number of perks that must be changed in order to upgrade an item.
Item level is a popular measure of power, and can be seen on all tooltips of items. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.
The level of an item can help players evaluate the potency of gear when they decide to buy or sell. It's a useful indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it is capable of dealing with. The item level can also be used to compare items when looking at a vendor's inventory.
The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the complete item description, including its level. It is also accessible by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are a few theories about how the calculation of an item's level is carried out. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula which calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. item upgrader considers that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in sockets boost the value of the item. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually quite close to the actual Blizzard item level.
It's not the only thing that affects the level of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may alter its stats. For instance it can add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
Item Stats
Stats on an item are a significant part of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon, and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification which are then boosted by the player's level.
Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats of the item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while items with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times, at higher costs.
Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to give items extra damage or other special abilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs), or to distinguish them by naming them.
All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, as with other methods of rerolling.
In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the level of the item, however all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the specified range, unless it's a unique item or the result of a God roll from a boss of a raid.
Another thing that could be changed is the option to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attaches, or select which stats to boost. As with the base equipment, it must be done per item, and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the chances of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.
Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance which increases with each item level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons come with an initial Luck value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to boost the Luck of an item, up to 140.
Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any ability that causes damage by 5percent. These items can be found in the shops or made using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to boost their success rate or prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.
The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of completing the upgrade successfully and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased so much, and the likelihood that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%..
The success of an can be affected by the Luck of that item. Every item has an average success rate of 25 percent, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.
Note that item upgrades are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects may be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
